A beautiful warm, dry, calm spring day dawned Saturday, April 3, 2010 for Ladonia's Spring Fling...in an otherwise wet, windy and cool spring! Just a perfect day for the town to have the first outing of the year, gathering in our little square where City Hall sits. There were several vendors such as Big Brother/Big Sister, Dewey dogs (hotdogs) for sale and the traditional Easter egg hunt.
Turning Ranch had been invited to have a table at the gathering, introducing people to our pastured eggs (Yes, we are selling our eggs now!) and meet people who want to improve their health. I decided to also have a few baked goods for sale, so that people could taste a sample of nutrient-dense foods. Hard boiled eggs (using our eggs of course), fresh milk yogurt (from our own dairy), and gluten-free coconut muffins & brownies rounded out our food offerings. As my chocolate loving boys guessed, the brownies were the biggest hit. I must say, they are pretty good...if you're looking for a gluten-free chocolate sweet, check out the brownie recipe in, "Cooking with Coconut Flour" by Bruce Fife.
Our local Weston A. Price chapter leader, Nancy Wesson and her children, had also been invited to have a table. Nancy brought lots of good information in the way of brochures, books and nutrient-dense products such as coconut oil, fermented cod-liver oil and Celtic sea salt. She got several people stopping by for a chat. BTW - next time you see Nancy with her flourescent baseball cap on, as pictured here, you gotta read what's on the cap...it's sure to be a conversation starter
.

What do the kids of the vendors do? Play chess! Here, Susanna and Jonathan play a game while Joshua and James wait their turn.
Both of us were invited back to Ladonia's Frontier Days in July. We are thankful for the exposure and opportunity to help people in their search for better health.
