Our first shipment of worms arrived today!  The post office called first thing this morning to PLEASE come get this box of LIVE worms!  Jonathan is starting a worm bin to help give us good compost and hopefully extra worms for our laying hens.

This is the first step...the bin!  He has already drilled holes in the bottom and around the top edge for air circulation.

This is the inside of the bin, the bottom is lined with moistened torn-up newspaper and some good ol' dirt.  Just waiting for the squiggly things!

Here they are...one pound of red worms.

At home in their new home!

We're keeping them in the garage...no house worms for me!  Jonathan checks on them every few days...so far they like the quinoa and egg shells the best.  Avocado peel and orange peel was a thumbs down.  We have found out they need a light on during the night; otherwise, they go crawling out of the box.  Now you know why they have to stay OUT of the house .
