The frigid cold weather has hit North Texas this week.  We were actually prepared...somewhat .  A few days before I had bought my guys ski masks...except the only color they had was black.  So they end up looking like robbers!  Anyhow, this has been added to their outdoor gear this week.

Who are these two?  It's hard for even Mama to tell, but it's Joshua on the left and Jonathan on the right.  They've just come back from checking for chicken eggs on the morning round of farm chores.  The chickens are actually behind them in the fenced area.

A funny thing this morning...it was trash day this morning.  Due to high winds last night, we decided not to put the trash cans out by the highway for fear of them being blown over.  So this task was left to the wee morning hours...in farm time that means before the sun comes up.  As happens frequently, Ted helped the boys out by letting them load the trash cans in the back of the pickup truck for the short haul down our driveway and out to the highway.  After they unloaded the trash cans, Ted left James and Jonathan at the end of our driveway while he went 1/4 mile down the road to turn around and come back in our driveway (it's narrow, on a hill and a curve).  In the minute he was gone, a policeman drive by and saw the boys waiting by the road...of course all decked out for the weather, including black face masks.  He turned on his lights and stopped (which of course thrilled the boys).  He asked the boys if they were waiting for the schoolbus.  He was told no they weren't...just taking out trash and waiting for their papa to turn around and come get them.  Just then, Ted drove up, the boys hopped in the back of the pickup truck and home they went.  I'm sure that policeman got a new story added to his collection.  And we wondered if he was going to give them a ride to school??  It was a VERY cold morning....wind chill was around 7 degrees.
