We celebrated Joshua's 9th birthday yesterday and at the end of the day, he declared it was his best birthday yet. Here's some of what made it special to him.
To understand Joshua is to understand that he is Mister Tool Time through and through. Ever since we've moved to the farm and had numerous building projects, he has been there with full interest in every single one. So it was appropriate that he receive his first tool box, complete with "real" tools. I had the best time picking out small size versions at our local Wal-Mart (which BTW is the nicest & friendliest Wal-Mart I've EVER been in...I'm a Target fan, but with no Target close by, I've had to switch). Even the cashier commented on my tool purchases...thinking that was too neat!
Since we're new to the area, we have many places to explore. Joshua picked the Northeast Texas Children's Museum in Commerce, TX, which is a nice 12 miles away. While I admit the museum isn't exactly what I was expecting, it is nevertheless a SUPER fun place for children. It's basically a HUGE room outfitted with props, costumes and fun play stations organized throughout the room. While it was Joshua's birthday, we were surprised to find Jonathan was in his element..this brought out his "actor" personality and about every 5 minutes we found him in a different costume. They all had fun...here's some pictures of the boys...we had the place all to ourselves that day.
Joshua, Jonathan & James taking a wild ride in the wagon!
The Pioneer Boys!
Beside an actual airplane in the museum.
James loved playing pizza cook and server....even though he hasn't had any in years due to a gluten intolerance
.
Jonathan...he is all tuckered out after fighting the big fire!
Joshua learning all about bubbles...yes, he is INSIDE a bubble!
James put together this costume...Wizard of Oz anyone?
One of Jonathan's favorite costumes that day....Pooh Bear!
Fighter airplane pilot, Jonathan, waving goodbye.
