God has supplied 61 acres, 2 ponds, 4 cisterns and a 110 yr-old farmhouse to become home for us and for our developing business, Turning Ranch, of producing "better than organic" produce and meats for our family's needs. As the years progress, we hope to be able to supply a small group of consumers as well. We will now reside in the "booming" city of Ladonia, Texas (pop. 670) located in Fannin County. We will be within 2 hours of Denton/Dallas/Ft Worth markets and within 30 minutes of close friends in Campbell and Greenville.
To top off the day of buying the farm yesterday, we also became the owners of a Dodge 3500 Quad Cab Diesel Dooley pick-up. We've been looking at pick-ups for quite a while, and found this one New Year's Day. The previous owner made modifications for this pick-up to haul a large trailer of cattle. With this pulling power, we should be able to handle most anything that comes along. Sherri was pleasantly surprised at how easy this pick-up is to handle and we both love the power it gives us when getting on a freeway. The boys seem almost more excited about riding in the pick-up than the farm!
For the next month, we will be quite busy as we prepare the farmhouse for move-in and occupancy. We expect to officially be living there by the first of February. You can view some pictures of the farm on the main page of the website.
