We were out early on a frosty Christmas morning, driving to a family's homestead to care for their 4 horses, 4 cats and 3 dogs...as we have been most of this week and will all next week. That's right...even before presents were opened or breakfast hits our tummies, we've been piling out of bed every morning at sunrise and taking a short drive out to the country. The boys love petting the animals and are learning to do the work without complaining.
When a family from our church needed someone to care for their animals while they were away this holiday season, we jumped at the chance. What better way to help the boys understand realistically what it will be like to have animals on the farm to care for every day...no matter if it's your birthday, Christmas, or Sunday morning. No matter if it's raining or cold...the animals must be cared for. Truth be told, it's teaching Ted and I alot about how we want to manage our animals on our farm someday. In the meantime, the boys keep switching from one kind of animal to the next as to what their favorite is....and I'm in heaven getting to be around horses again
